FDA Zocor  Warning

On March 19, 2010, the FDA released information that 80 mg Zocor may be linked to higher rates of muscle injury, including rhabdomyolysis. The FDA warning for Zocor (simvastatin) dose limitations: These limitations applied to ALL patients taking simvastatin. Zocor, Pregnancy and Harm To The Fetus Zocor should not be taken during pregnancy. It has been labeled as a Category X drug by the FDA, meaning that using it during pregnancy may cause harm to the fetus. Warning for  breastfeeding while taking Zocor It is currently not known if simvastatin will appear in breast milk, which may also cause birth defects.
